What do you do when you need to migrate hundreds or even hundreds of thousands of devices to a new UEM (Unified Endpoint Management) system – without overwhelming users, overloading administrators or investing six months in planning? This was precisely the question that led to the creation of a product that is now in demand worldwide: the EBF Onboarder.
What started out as a pragmatic solution for Henkel, who repeatedly had to migrate a large number of devices, quickly became a game changer for larger customers with more than 200,000 devices. The EBF Onboarder has thus become one of the most important migration tools in the field of UEM. More than 2.8 million migrated devices later, one thing is clear: the demand was, is and remains high.
Guido, what makes the EBF Onboarder so special?
Guido: Because the migration tool solves what many people struggle with: complex migrations during ongoing operations. Whether iOS, Android, macOS or Windows – EBF Onboarder works across systems and, above all, without the need for a total wipe in some cases.
Guido Strucksberg, Product Manager for EBF Onboarder
Has been with the team for nine years. During his migration tests, even his cats get an email address.
Julian, from your customer support experience, what makes admins particularly happy about EBF Onboarder?
Julian: The fact that user migration is initiated without any admin interaction or night shifts. This takes the pressure off admins and prevents complaints from colleagues about ‘work interruptions when it’s not convenient’. Automated migration reminders to staff relieve them of communication tasks because the reminders can be timed in EBF Onboarder. This means that emails can be sent during normal support hours.
Julian, Support Specialist
Has been with the team for seven years and specialises in the EBF Onboarder. He does what many dream of: taking a nap in our fantastic sleeping cabin. We’re sure he’s dreaming of the next great migration project.
Jerry: I think it’s particularly cool that reminders can also be sent via text message or push notification. They are less likely to get lost in the flood of emails and seem more urgent.
Jerry Amadon, Senior Advisor Development
Has been with the team for 14 years. He disproves the stereotype that developers are shy and work in basements – because our Jerry not only loves surfing, he also loves getting up on stage to talk about his passion, AI.
Guido: And I like our clear dashboard, where administrators can always see the exact migration status of all devices – and intervene early if something gets stuck.
Why is demand currently rising?
Guido: Because migrating from the UEM system is currently on the agenda for many companies. There are many reasons for this: cost pressure, increasing security requirements, changing licence models and resource shortages. The increase has been noticeable since 2018 – first in the USA, and now also in Europe and Germany. It makes sense to regularly check whether the current UEM system still meets requirements or whether there are better alternatives.
The EBF Onboarder is unique on the market. Why did EBF recognize this need so early on?
Michael: Thanks to our good customer relationships: Companies from the USA approached us because we were already their long-standing trusted IT advisor. That gave us a first-mover advantage, making us the first on the market with a migration tool of this kind. As IT consultants, we also have the advantage of being familiar with various systems, being independent and offering managed services – in other words, the whole package with a wealth of experience.
Michael Fritzsche, Head of Development
Has been with the team for 17 years. He is also at home – with his wife, two older children and younger triplets, he is always faced with a lot of dynamism. This means he is also ready for any challenge at work!
Guido: I think you’re touching on an important point: many IT administrators are switching UEM systems for the first time in their careers. For us, it’s routine. Not only do we offer the right tool, we have also advised and supported hundreds of companies with their migrations – in a targeted manner, with minimal effort and a manageable time investment. And we are ISO 27001 certified.
Julian, you have the last word – why do you enjoy working on EBF Onboarder projects, what makes EBF Onboarder special in your opinion?
Julian: Because EBF Onboarder demonstrates what makes us special as EBF: the interlocking of us consultants with our tool expertise and our knowledge of customers with our product colleagues and developers. Always with the goal of getting the best for our customers together!
With this in mind: EBF Onboarder: 8 years. 2.8 million devices, many happy customers.
And best of all, you don’t have to fly alone. We’re on board with you.
