Thanks to EBF Onboarder, we were able to migrate the devices largely automatically—in several phases, with good communication support and constant monitoring of the status.
The result
The migration of around 1,000 iPhones was successfully completed within three months as planned, enabling a rapid transition to Microsoft Intune.
Challenges at the Zehnder Group
The products of the globally active Zehnder Group are in high demand, especially during the pandemic, as they ensure a healthy, clean, and comfortable indoor climate. However, like so many others, most of the group’s employees have been working from home and have had to change their daily work routine overnight. This is no easy task for IT departments—especially when the licenses for the existing unified endpoint management system are expiring at the same time and a change of system is planned.
This was precisely the challenge facing the Zehnder Group in 2021. The company wanted to switch from Ivanti (formerly MobileIron) to Microsoft Intune and migrate around 1,000 iOS devices. However, migration can be incredibly time-consuming, especially when the company structure is complex, users are located in 20 countries at very different workplaces or in home offices, and speak different languages. This creates a great need for support, which is difficult to provide remotely and at a time when the need for home offices is tying up many IT resources.
Our contribution
The EBF Onboarder was the perfect solution for the challenges faced by the Zehnder Group. The EBF migration tool makes it possible to migrate a large number of devices in a largely automated process, so that neither the IT department nor the users have to put in a lot of effort. Users can carry out the migration with just a few clicks and thus place the device under the management of a new UEM system. The preparations for this are very straightforward, and thanks to the simple steps involved, hardly any support is required during the process.

Thanks to EBF Onboarder and its expertise gained from numerous migration projects, EBF enabled Zehnder Group to make a smooth transition to UEM.
The EBF experts worked with the Zehnder Group’s IT team to prepare for the migration and planned a rollout in several phases.
The EBF Onboarder communication tool made it easy to inform employees about the upcoming migration in their native languages.
The migration steps were explained in a short video so that employees could watch how to make the switch if necessary. Any problems could be solved using TeamViewer.
The Zehnder Group’s IT team always had an overview of the devices that had already been migrated and was able to complete the process in a targeted manner with the help of reminders.
The result
The migration of around 1,000 iPhones was completed successfully within three months as planned and without many user queries. This allowed the IT department to focus on other tasks to enable digital working for employees and quickly switch to Microsoft Intune as the new UEM system.
