Hypergate sorgt mit dem Hypergate Authenticator dafür, dass Nutzer von Android Enterprise-Geräten per Single-Sign-On auf Firmenressourcen zugreifen können. Nutzung von Kerberos

Hypergate macht möglich, was nativ von Android Enterprise nicht unterstützt wird: die Nutzung des Protokolls Kerberos, das häufig für die Authentifizierung verwendet wird und einen Login per Single-Sign-On erlaubt. Kerberos gilt als sehr sicher und wird daher auch vom vielfach eingesetzten Verzeichnisdienst Active Directory genutzt, der die Authentifizierung von Nutzern in vielen Anwendungsfällen übernimmt.

Einfache Einrichtung und Verteilung

Hypergate kann unmittelbar mit der Active Directory-Infrastruktur eines Unternehmens kommunizieren und benötigt keine zusätzlichen Backend-Komponenten. Zudem ist die Lösung mit allen führenden Unified Endpoint Management-Systemen kompatibel und kann per App an alle Mitarbeiter ausgerollt werden. Dadurch lässt sich die Single-Sign-On-Option schnell und einfach implementieren.

Authentifizierungsmethode je nach User-Kontext

Über das Hypergate Feature SmartAccess lässt sich definieren, für welche Anwendungen und Nutzer eine Single-Sign-On-Option bestehen soll. Mittels Richtlinien kann anschließend gesteuert werden, wann diese Möglichkeit geboten werden soll und wann strengere Authentifizierungsmechanismen zum Einsatz kommen müssen – wie die Abfrage eines Passworts, die Multifaktorauthentifizierung oder gar die Zugriffsverweigerung. Hierbei können Faktoren wie zum Beispiel das Netzwerk oder der Standort des Users eine Rolle spielen. Nutzerfreundlichkeit und Sicherheit lassen sich auf diesem Weg in Einklang bringen.

Hypergate macht einen Passwort-Wechsel auf dem Mobilgerät möglich. Das ist von großem Vorteil. Schließlich sollten Unternehmen von ihren Mitarbeitern in regelmäßigen Abständen eine Passwortaktualisierung verlangen. Ohne eine Lösung wie Hypergate müssten die Nutzer die Aktualisierung allerdings an einem Windows-Rechner vornehmen. Das ist vor allem für Mitarbeiter, die viel unterwegs sind, nicht immer möglich und lässt viele Support-Anfragen entstehen. Diese können Unternehmen mit Hypergate verhindern und die Nutzererfahrung deutlich steigern.

Hypergate ermöglicht auch einen Passwort-Reset am Mobilgerät. Das ist gerade dann von Vorteil, wenn Passwörter auf Basis der Unternehmensrichtlinien häufig gewechselt werden müssen und dabei eine gewisse Komplexität gefordert sowie die Nutzung bereits verwendeter Passwörter verboten ist. Denn dann ist es für die Mitarbeiter schwierig, sich immer an das gerade aktuelle Passwort zu erinnern – zum Beispiel nach einem Urlaub. Die Möglichkeit, das Passwort selbst zurücksetzen zu können, spart Unternehmen teure Prozesskosten. Dank Hypergate kann ein Nutzer eigenständig über sein mobiles Endgerät ein neues Passwort vergeben – unter Berücksichtigung der Unternehmensrichtlinien. Ganz einfach und ohne Supportbedarf.

Leveraging Kerberos

Hypergate enables what is not natively supported by Android Enterprise: the use of the Kerberos protocol, commonly used for authentication and allowing single sign-on login. Kerberos is considered to be very secure and is therefore also used by the widely adopted Active Directory service, which handles the authentication of users in many use cases.

Easy setup and deployment

Hypergate can directly communicate with a company’s Active Directory infrastructure and doesn’t require any additional back-end components. Moreover, the solution is compatible with all leading Unified Endpoint Management systems and can be rolled out to all employees via an app. As a result, the single sign-on option can be implemented quickly and easily.

User context-dependent authentication method

Hypergate’s SmartAccess feature can be used to define the applications and users for which a single sign-on option should be in place. Subsequently, policies can be used to control when this option can be offered and when stricter authentication mechanisms must be applied – such as requesting a password, multifactor authentication, or even denying access. Here, factors such as the network or the user’s location can play a role. This way, usability, and security can be brought into balance.

Password change on mobile devices

Hypergate also enables a password change on mobile devices. This is of great advantage, given that companies should require their employees to update their passwords at regular intervals.  In the absence of a solution like Hypergate, however, users would have to perform the password change on a Windows computer. This is not always possible, especially for employees who travel a lot, and often leads to numerous support requests. With Hypergate, companies can prevent these and significantly improve the user experience.

Hypergate also enables a password reset on mobile devices. This is particularly useful when passwords need to be changed frequently based on a company’s policies, requiring a certain level of complexity and prohibiting the use of previously used passwords. Because then it is sometimes difficult for employees to remember the current password – for example, after a vacation. The ability to reset the password independently saves companies expensive process costs. Thanks to Hypergate, a user can use a mobile device to assign a new password on his or her own – taking company policies into account. Quite simply and without the need for support.
