Confidential printing without an app or printer driver

Print easily with EBF Print on iOS and macOS

Is this familiar to you?

Is AirPrint switched off on the printers in your company so that the mobile devices can no longer print natively?
Each device has to be made ready for printing with a separate printer driver, which is super time-consuming – even with an UEM system?
With iOS, no mails can be printed even with a printer driver?
New driver updates and countless helpdesk requests are constantly coming in when printing doesn't work?
Users have to authenticate themselves twice – once on the mobile device and then on the printer to be able to print confidentially?
Do you want to move away from cloud-connected printing solutions? To ensure that sensitive print data is not routed via servers in the US and can be viewed there? (GDPR)

To summarize:
A lot of configuration and administration work is necessary to enable secure printing from Apple devices.

The printing job is sent to a print server in encrypted form, forwarded from there to the company’s print infrastructure, temporarily stored on the print server by the “Follow-Me” solution and held ready for printing.

Users can then authenticate themselves at a shared printer (printing with a password, PIN or similar), view their print job and start printing. The document, which may be confidential, can be taken away directly -– without being viewed by unauthorized persons.

Submit print job

An employee initiates one or more print jobs via the mobile device.

Authenticate at the printer

At any time, the employee goes to a printer approved for him/her and performs authentication.

Print document

The employee receives a list of all open print jobs and can select documents for printing. The documents are printed immediately and can be taken away by the employee.

Advantages

High security for mobile printing
  • The transmission of print data is encrypted.
  • The print server for EBF Print can be located at your company or hosted by us. No transmission of print data via external servers (cloud printing).
  • As with stationary printing, the printing process can only be started after the user has been authenticated – e.g. using an access card or PIN (printing with password).
  • Confidential documents cannot fall into the wrong hands as the sender accompanies the printing process.
  • Print jobs are only sent to authorized printers. (Secure pull print via UEM user groups)
  • EBF Print supports several “Follow-Me” solutions.
  • Various “Follow-Me” solutions can be connected and print jobs can be distributed to them.
  • Thanks to the integration of different printer systems, conflicts between incompatible native printer drivers and system instabilities are avoided, especially with multi-session systems such as Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Microsoft Remote Desktop Session Host, VMware Horizon or Parallels RAS.
  • Printing with AirPrint without the disadvantages of AirPrint, e.g. in terms of security
  • EBF Print is quickly and easily integrated into a company’s infrastructure and can then be managed centrally via IT – without users having to do anything themselves. A Unified Endpoint Management system helps to assign users to groups and distribute the print profiles to the end devices.
  • Users do not have to install an app or drivers or make any configurations.
  • Helpdesk requests relating to printing problems are reduced.
  • Users can print at different times and independently of the company network: they can send a print job from home or on the move and print the document later in the office.
  • Users can choose the best printing option depending on their location and printer utilization. Print roaming through Follow-Me avoids interruptions if printers are busy or out of order.
  • Personal pull printing queue allows the confidential document to be stored on the server until the user releases it for printing – so no confidential document falls into the wrong hands.
